Now...Ain't I a Stinker....

This may suprise you, but I am actually a nice guy. Despite the fact that my first post baslts the La Vergne Police Department, it may suprise you to know that I have an extensive bacground in Law Enforcement as a Police Officer, Sheriff Deputy, Tactical Officer and other areas of Special Operations including Narcotics. So where did my loyalty go? My loyalty are to officers...not to Mayberry.

As far as my education is concerned, this is by far not my first go-round with politics. I may very well have more experience in politics in my background than many in LaVergne who hold office. I can be a wise bird in your ear...or I can be a thorn in your side. How you choose to take my text is your own decision.

This blog was created so that the residents of LaVergne could speak out. When I decided to move to the Nashville/Metro area, I chose LaVergne because of a good bit of smoke and mirrors. Now that the smoke has lifted and the mirrors have all cracked, I see a good bit of what Lavergne is all about. It is about potential beyond any other....potential that is being sat on whilst we blow it away with pork and other needless spending.

By the way, if anyone is interesting in assiting with the purchase of a domain name for this blog, please feel free to contact me. I would also like to hear from you as to what you would like the domain to be called.

Until next time,

I agree, some new tactics need to be put into place. I dont feel safe in my own neighborhood. Teenage hoodlums are running everywhere but the only time Ive seen police besides the other nights shooting was when they were telling my brother and his friends they had to move their trucks from blocking the sidewalk or they would ticket and tow them. I was told that the sidewalk had to be able to be utilized. Yet I never see tickets on the hundred or so cars parked on the street or sidewalk and I never see police patrolling after an incident when the city says they have increased patrols in the subdivision. Way to go Lavergne, my sidewalk can be utilized but you cant stop kids from burning down houses, breaking and entering and stealing rims off pregnant ladies cars. I feel so safe.I have an idea, if the car would have been on my sidewalk the police would have been all over it and the hoodlums wouldnt have had a chance to try to steal the rims..... and then the cops wouldnt have had to arrest my neighbor for shooting at the hoodlums that they didnt bother trying to find..... Hey hoodlums, we are out there watching you and we are standing our ground with or without help from the Police.

But here is the point my fine friend...and you have made a fine point yourself:

Drive down the streets right now and you will find some of the same cars stradling the sidewalk and parking on the street.

The LaVergne Police Department picks and chooses their battles...and I am picking mine. Residents....it is time you picked YOURS.

Gun safety, now in light of the recent incident we should talk about gun safety. Gun safety is everyones responsibility and I know that when something happens like this your gonna freak out and want to pull the trigger. You have to think of a few things first:
1. where is the bullet going to go if I dont hit my target? If you cant be reasonably sure that you will hit your target without hurting or endangering innocent bystanders then the trigger should not be pulled unless you are being fired upon and have no other choice.
2. You should only fire your weapon if you are in danger for example someone busting down your door or trying to car jack you. If someone is robbing your car while your in the house you dont have a right or need to pull the trigger as you are not in mortal danger. now pointing it at them and telling them to stop or to leave is ok, but always call the police.
You have to keep a level head in situations like this or you turn from victim into suspect really quick. you can read what Im talking about below

And I am in complete agreeance...but this concept that LPD seems to have had to go for the greater of the two crimes by taking down the shooter and not pursuing those who were stealing the wheels is still like taking a a man who takes a bomb and kills a 20 people and hanging him while letting a rapist go because he wasn't as much of a priority.

Now, before readers begin screaming "it isn't the same"....yes, I understand that the two situations are by FAR not ni the same catagory....but the concept is the same when it comes down to this: Crime is crime. Just because one crime is commited doesn't lessen the need for law enforcement to enforce another. That, my friends, is exactly what happened.

LPD arrested one person involved in the theft that very night. There was not a canine on shift at the time of the theft and shooting.

As for the theft victim being charged with firing shoots. He used deadly force to protect property which violates TCA and showed recklesss regard and negligence with his actions. What if your baby were sleeping on the other side of the wall from where that bullet went through?

Would you forgive the man?

hmmm no k9 unit on that night? thats why I saw the k9 unit when I looked out my window.... but ok sure there wasnt one there. I watched the whole thing go down after the shots were fired as I couldnt get back to sleep. And what if it was anybody behind the wall. you can say what if all you want. that doesnt change what happened. Yes it would have been tragic if someone had been injured because of the recklessness of the shots being fired. he obviously didnt have any weapons training. If it were me, LPD would have been cleaning up bodies not having to worry about finding them, but then again i was in the military so I do have weapons training and I wouldnt have shot someone for stealing my rims. I would have came out of the house and made them lay on the pavement till police came. The only reason that LPD did arrest someone is because he was dumb enough to come back to the scene and try to make it look like someone stole his car, which happened to be the car with the stolen rims in the back. If he would have kept running they would have had to run the plates and hope they werent stolen. People if you see cars sitting in intersections doing nothing, take the tag numbers down and call the police non emergency number. that is what I saw for 3 days before this happened but I am so used to seeing cars just sitting around usually with someone outside talking to the driver or passenger that I didnt think anything of it. I sure do now though! punks better stay off Tom Hailey, we are sick of your crap and wont put up with it!

No one here has said that one the guy with the gun did was right. Not a single person. I don't agree with it, do not condone it, nor do I disagree with the charges. If you cannot account for where the bullet ends up...you don't take a shot. His life was not in danger, despite the fact that he claimed to relatives that he was thinking of his pregnant wife....but make no mistake : I DO NOT AGREE WITH HIS ACTIONS.

That being said...my only point is that IF a more effective patrol had been conducted...ESPECIALLY since a recent driveby had taken place (now THERES a good reason to do one) then these guys in the car would have been checked out as a suspicious vehicle before they even had a chance to steal or while they were in the process of doing so and action could have been taken that did NOT involve houses being shot at.

Please at least give me the courtesy of reading the words posted and stop trying to put intent in my mouth.

as I was driving back from the store today, I counted 8 vehicles parked over the sidewalk. i mean they were completely over the sidewalk parked sideways. what happened to enforcing rules and laws?

I live on Tom Hailey as well. I see the same cars day in and day out.
